Born in Sant Mateu, he moved to Barcelona where he studied at the Superior Music Conservatory of Barcelona obtaining top honours in the following degrees: Piano, Composition, Instrumentation, and Conducting. He studied under Joan Pich Santasusana, Manuel Oltra, Xavier Montsalvatge and Antoni Ros Marbá. Simultaneously he studied philosophy at the Central University of Barcelona, obtaining a degree in Philosophy. He also took doctorate classes in Art History at the same University.
He won a National Prize for Vocation as Orchestra Conductor. He further studied orchestra direction at the Mozarteum of Salzburg.
For three seasons he conducted the Internal Orchestra of the Gran Teatro del Liceo. He has also conducted the string orchestra 'Camareta Instrumental de Barcelona' and Zarzuela Company 'Ferrán Rigual' of Barcelona in which he interpreted masterpieces of the lyrical genre.
In the field of concert Bands he has directed two youth bands of Padre Mañanet and Alpe schools. With the Big Band of the latter school, he received a national award from TVE. He has also been Music Director of the Banda Bonanova, Banda de Música "Ciutat de L'Hospitalet" and the Symphonic Band de les Corts (Barcelona). As a guest conductor he has led several concerts with the Banda Municipal de Barcelona, Unió Musical of Llíria, Banda Municipal de Castelló, Banda Municipal de Sevilla, and many more. He has also served as musical expert in the field of band music at competitions held by TVE (TV Programs "Gente joven and 'Nueva Gente')
As a composer he has received national awards and has premiered works at the Palau de la Música, l'Auditori de Barcelona, TVE, TV3, and also in various cities in Spain and abroad .
He has been able to combine his activities as conductor and composer with musical education, being a music teacher in secondary schools, he taught harmony, counterpoint and accompaniment in the High Music Conservatory in Barcelona. He has also held the position of Music Education supervisor at the Department of Education of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
He has published extensively on teaching and music learning. From that line of work is worth mentioning a series of ten articles on instruments of the orchestra and various ensembles (Montsalvat Magazine 1975-76), a history of Music in Catalonia and Valencia, entitled "Music and Musicians at home" (Editorial Teide, 1993) and ten manuals for students of music education in primary and secondary school published by Editorial Claret. He also published a book titled "Divertimento" 25 top classical pieces timed and commented.
He has been Arts Education General Manager for the Education’s Department of Catalonia, General Director of the ESMUC (High Music School of Catalonia), and General Coordinator for the JONC (National Youth Orchestra of Catalonia). He continues his musical activities as a conductor and composer.
